Stormzy Joins #OverTheBridge Podcast To Discuss Scholarship And Black Excellence

Stormzy has become one of the most influential people in the UK music scene and in UK’s cultural life, as the grime MC has been consistently using his platform in ways that would benefit the community.

He went in to join Bilal, Kwaku, Patrick & Tom, a group of 4 black and mixed-raced guys that became friends while studying at Cambridge. Their podcast discusses on black culture and education and with Stormzy having recently launched The Stormzy Scholarship for two students who are admitted at Cambridge, the discussion was very interesting to listen to.

Stormzy touches on the reasons why he enjoys helping others, stepping in the foot steps of other fellow artists who have done the same, referring to Krept & Konan. The discussion also lets listeners know about the experience the 4 hosts of the podcast have had at Cambridge and alongside Stormzy, they debate on the reasons this has been occurring.

Stormzy is putting a lot of effort into helping the black community, focusing especially on education and young people. The Stormzy Scholarships are non-repayable, covering the full cost of tuition fees and provide a maintenance grant which will significantly reduce the need for awardees to take out government or commercial loans. This support will be available to recipients for up to four years of undergraduate study. Earlier this year, Stormzy also launched #Merky Books, an imprint for new voices in partnership with Penguin Random House UK.
